Kody was born to sing. His father has been a minister of music for over 20 years and his mother is a vocal performance major with a background in the Michigan Opera Theatre. Kody began singing publicly at age 6 when he traveled with his mother during her concert ministry. He traveled with the Oklahoma All State Baptist Youth Choir for two summers and was a special guest soloist at the National Fellowship of Christian Athletes Summer Camp in Colorado. He was also chosen as a soloist at Falls Creek Baptist Assembly which is the largest Christian youth camp in the world.

From a young child, Kody has loved Southern Gospel quartets and always wanted to be a part of a group. Although, he always dreamed of being a bass, he was able to break into southern gospel music with a Tulsa, OK based group called The Ambassadors singing a mixture of baritone and lead. Kody sang baritone and lead with The Ambassadors for three years before taking over the tenor part due to an illness in the group. He has been singing tenor ever since. He sang with The Ambassadors for a total of four and a half years before joining 7 Mile Road. He is very excited to see where God is going to take this ministry.
